Glam Rock - by Frank

Cinderella season

Remember how last year around this time I volunteered for the Glass Slipper Project, which provides prom dresses and gear for low income Chicago high schoolers? And how disheartening it was that there were so few choices for plus size girls among the dresses? Well, I decided that this year, I'd see what I could do about that, and I requested the help of the awesome women at Shapely Prose. And they've graciously answered the call. Very cool. I plan on volunteering for the project again this year. Wanna join me?

Eat, drink, and be charitable

Here's an easy way to give for hurricane relief: Go out to dinner on Wednesday, October 5, 2005. Taking a cue from Dining Out for Life (I presume), Dine for America is an event where participating restaurants donate part or all of their profits for a day to hurricane relief. You can find participating restaurants throughout the country (and even a couple of international places) on the site (though fair warning: it took me a few tries to get the Chicago list to come up, so I went ahead and posted the Chicago and GR info for you guys).

For Chicagoans, check out these spots and what they'll donate:

If you work in the downtown area like me, you can hit up 2-3 of these places: Go to Corner Bakery for lunch, get your afternoon coffee at Caribou, and then head out to dinner. :)

For GR folks, try these:
